Recent Top Quark Mass Measurements from CMS / Castro, Andrea (INFN, Bologna ; Bologna U.) /CMS Collaboration A variety of top quark mass measurements has been made in the recent years by the CMS Collaboration. The most recent measurements performed at 8 TeV are reported here, along with a new measurement based on data collected in 2016 at 13 TeV. [...] CMS-CR-2017-390.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 7 p. Measurements of the Higgs $H$(125) boson at CMS / Botta, Valeria (DESY) /CMS Collaboration The most recent measurements of the Higgs $H$(125) boson in several final states, including decays to bosons, fermions, and the associated production of a Higgs boson with top quarks, are reviewed. Results have been obtained analysing the proton-proton collision data collected with the CMS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.. Search for new physics in events with jets, b-tagged jets, and large missing transverse momentum in the all-hadronic channel at $\sqrt{\text{s}}=$ 13 TeV / Bein, Samuel Louis (Hamburg U.) /CMS Collaboration A search for new physics in events with jets, b-tagged jets, missing transverse momentum, and no leptons, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{-1}$ collected by the CMS experiment at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV, is presented. No significant excess of events on top of the standard model background expectation is observed. [...] CMS-CR-2017-413.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 11 p. Observation of top quark production in proton-nucleus collisions / Krintiras, Georgios (Louvain U.) /CMS Collaboration The multi-TeV energies available at LHC have opened up the possibility to measure, for the first time, various large-mass elementary particles in nuclear collisions. The current study presents the first observation of top quark--the heaviest elementary particle in the standard model--using proton-lead collisions. [...] CMS-CR-2017-434.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 7 p. Manufacturing experience and test results of the PS prototype flexible hybrid circuit for the CMS Tracker Upgrade / Kovacs, Mark Istvan (CERN) ; Blanchot, Georges (CERN) ; Gadek, Tomasz (CERN) ; Honma, Alan (CERN) ; Vasey, Francois (CERN) The CMS Tracker Phase-2 Upgrade for HL-LHC requires High Density Interconnect (HDI) flexible hybrid circuits to build modules with low mass and high granularity. The hybrids are carbon fibre reinforced flexible circuits with flip-chips and passives. [...] CMS-CR-2017-380.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 6 p. Operational experience with the GEM detector assembly lines for the CMS forward muon upgrade / Vai, Ilaria (INFN, Pavia ; Pavia U.) ; Colafranceschi, Stefano (Florida Inst. Tech.) The CMS Collaboration has been developing large-area Triple-GEM detectors to be installed in the muon endcap regions of the CMS experiment in 2019 to maintain forward muon trigger and tracking performance at the HL-LHC. Ten pre-production detectors were built at CERN to commission the first assembly line and the quality controls. [...] CMS-CR-2017-423.- Geneva : CERN, 2017 - 6 p. Experimental and simulation study of irradiated silicon pad detectors for the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter / Peltola, Timo Hannu Tapani (Texas Tech.) /CMS Collaboration The foreseen upgrade of the LHC to its high luminosity phase (HL-LHC), will maximize the physics potential of the facility. The upgrade is expected to increase the instantaneous luminosity by a factor of 5 and deliver an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$ after 10 years of operation. Operational Experience with Radioactive Source Calibration of the CMS Hadron Endcap Calorimeter Wedges with Phase I Upgrade Electronics / Bilki, Burak (Iowa U.) /CMS Collaboration The Phase I Upgrade of the CMS Hadron Endcap Calorimeters consists of new photodetectors and front-end electronics. The upgrade will allow the elimination of the high amplitude noise and drifting response of the Hybrid Photo-Diodes, at the same time enabling the mitigation of the radiation damage of the scintillators and the wavelength shifting fibers with a larger spectral acceptance of the Silicon Photomultipliers.
