High precision electromagnetic calorimetry with 40 MHz readout: the CMS crystal ECAL for the High-Luminosity LHC / Orimoto, Toyoko Jennifer (Northeastern U.) /CMS Collaboration
The electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) of the Compact Muon Solenoid Experiment (CMS) will be upgraded to meet the challenging running conditions expected after the High-Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC). Particular challenges at HL-LHC are the harsh radiation environment, the increasing data rates and the extreme level of pile-up events, with up to 200 simultaneous proton-proton collisions. [...]

Strange and Multi-strange Particle Production in pPb and PbPb with CMS / Ni, Hong (Vanderbilt U.) /CMS Collaboration
Identified particle spectra provide an important tool for understanding the particle production mechanism and the dynamical evolution of the medium created in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Studies involving strange and multi-strange hadrons, such as $K^0_S$, $\Lambda$, and $\Xi^-$, carry additional information since there is no net strangeness content in the initial colliding system. Serial powering optimization for CMS and ATLAS pixel detectors within RD53 collaboration for HL-LHC: System Level Simulations and Testing / Orfanelli, Stella (CERN) ; Christiansen, Jorgen (CERN) ; Hamer, Matthias (Aachen, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Hinterkeuser, F ; Karagounis, M ; Pradas Luengo, Alvaro (Zaragoza, ITA) ; Marconi, Sara (INFN, Perugia ; Perugia U.) ; Ruini, Daniele (Zurich, ETH)
Serial powering is the baseline choice for low mass power distribution for the CMS and ATLAS HL-LHC pixel detectors. For this scheme, two 2.0\,A Shunt-LDO (SLDO) regulators are integrated in the RD53 prototype chip (65\,nm) and are used to provide constant supply voltages to its power domains from a constant input current. DAQExpert - An expert system to increase CMS data-taking efficiency / Andre, Jean-marc Olivier (Fermilab) ; Behrens, Ulf (DESY) ; Branson, James (UC, San Diego) ; Chaze, Olivier (CERN) ; Cittolin, Sergio (UC, San Diego) ; Contescu, Cristian (Fermilab) ; Darlea, Georgiana Lavinia (MIT) ; Deldicque, Christian (CERN) ; Demiragli, Zeynep (MIT) ; Dobson, Marc (CERN) et al.
The efficiency of the Data Acquisition (DAQ) of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment for LHC Run 2 is constantly being improved. A~significant factor affecting the data taking efficiency is the experience of the DAQ operator. [...]

Collective flow of open heavy flavour in heavy ion collisions at the LHC energies with CMS / Lee, Yen-Jie (MIT) /CMS Collaboration
Heavy flavour mesons are used as powerful tools for the study of the strongly interacting medium in heavy ion collisions as heavy quarks are sensitive to the transport properties of the medium. In these proceedings, $D^0$ nuclear modification factors, comparing the yields in PbPb and pp collisions, and azimuthal anisotropies in PbPb collisions are reported. [...]

Evolution of online algorithms in ATLAS and CMS in Run2 / Fernandez Perez Tomei, Thiago Rafael (SAO_PAULO) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations
The Large Hadron Collider has entered a new era in Run~2, with centre-of-mass energy of 13~TeV and instantaneous luminosity reaching $\mathcal{L}_\textrm{inst} = 1.4\times$10\textsuperscript{34}~cm\textsuperscript{-2}~s\textsuperscript{-1} for pp collisions. In order to cope with those harsher conditions, the ATLAS and CMS collaborations have improved their online selection infrastructure to keep a high efficiency for important physics processes -- like W, Z and Higgs bosons in their leptonic and diphoton modes -- whilst keeping the size of data stream compatible with the bandwidth and disk resources available. Measurements of event properties and multi-differential jet cross sections and impact of CMS measurements on Proton Structure and QCD parameters / Kaur, Anterpreet (Panjab U.) /CMS Collaboration
We present results on the measurements of characteristics of events with jets including jet-charge, investigations of shapes and jet mass distributions. The measurements are compared to theoretical predictions including those matched to parton shower and hadronization. [...]

Top quark mass measurements with CMS / Kovalchuk, Nataliia (Hamburg U.) /CMS Collaboration
Measurements of the top quark mass are presented, obtained from CMS data collected in proton-proton collisions at the LHC at centre-of-mass energies of 7 TeV and 8 TeV. The mass of the top quark is measured using several methods and channels, including the reconstructed invariant mass distribution of the top quark, an analysis of endpoint spectra as well as measurements from shapes of top quark decay distributions. CMS results on collectivity in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2.76 and 5.02~TeV / Milosevic, Jovan (VINCA Inst. Nucl. Sci., Belgrade) /CMS Collaboration
Nonlinear response coefficients of higher-order $v_{n}$ anisotropy harmonics for charged particles, as a function of transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) and collision centrality, are measured in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2.76 and 5.02~TeV. The nonlinear response coefficients are obtained using $v_{n}$ harmonics measured with respect to their own plane and the mixed harmonics. [...]

Overview of Heavy-Flavored Jets at CMS / Jung, Kurt (Illinois U., Chicago) /CMS Collaboration
The energy loss of jets in heavy-ion collisions is expected to depend on the mass and flavor of the initiating parton. Thus, measurements of jet quenching with identified partons place powerful constraints on the thermodynamic and transport properties of the hot and dense medium. [...]
