Measurement of top quark properties in single top production / Tiko, Andres (NICPB, Tallinn) /CMS Collaboration Single top topologies are exploited for studies of top quark properties. This includes the first measurement of single top polarization in the t-channel production mode in pp collisions, which directly confirms the V-A nature of the tWb production vertex. Search for a low-mass pseudoscalar Higgs boson produced in association with a pair of b-quarks and decaying to tau leptons at CMS / Caillol, Cecile (Brussels U.) /CMS Collaboration A search is reported for a light pseudoscalar A boson decaying to a pair of tau leptons, produced in association with a pair of b quarks, in the context of two-Higgs-doublet models. The results are based on pp collision data at a centre-of-mass energy of s = sqrt(8) TeV accumulated by the CMS experiment at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 fb$^{-1}$. PDF constraints and $\alpha_{S}$ from CMS / Kokkas, Panagiotis (Ioannina U.) /CMS Collaboration The measurement of the strong coupling constant based on four different observables is presented. The four observables are the inclusive jet spectrum, the 3-jet production cross section, the ratio of the inclusive 3-jet cross section to the inclusive 2-jet cross section, and the top quark pair production cross section in the dilepton channel. Higgs boson discovery and recent results / Flechl, Martin (Vienna, OAW) /CMS Collaboration After briefly discussing the discovery of a Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider,an overview of recent results in Higgs boson physics obtained with the CMS experiment is presented. The focus is on measurements of the properties of the recently discovered Higgs boson with a mass of about 125 GeV. [...] CMS-CR-2015-193; arXiv:1510.01924.- Geneva : CERN, 2015 - 16 p. Upgrade of the CMS Outer Tracker for the High Luminosity LHC / Dragicevic, Marko Gerhart (Vienna, OAW) A significant upgrade of the LHC accelerator is planned to become operational mid of the next decade. This High Luminosity LHC will increase the design luminosity by a factor of five to about 5 $\times$ 10$^{34}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ or even beyond, making an upgrade of the detectors unavoidable. LHC results for dark matter from ATLAS and CMS / De Cosa, Annapaola (Zurich U.) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations The CMS and ATLAS collaborations searched for Dark Matter (DM) particles directly produced in pair. The searches are performed using the full LHC Run-I dataset recorded with the CMS and ATLAS detectors in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. CMS results on heavy flavour and quarkonia / Kim, Yongsun (Korea U.) /CMS Collaboration The CMS collaboration has recorded 150 inverse microbarns and 35 inverse nanobarns of PbPb and pPb collisions, at 2.76 TeV and 5.02 TeV, respectively. This presentation reports the results of the heavy quark measurements including quarkonia and B mesons. [...] CMS-CR-2015-180.- Geneva : CERN, 2015 - 9 p. Quarkonium cross sections and polarizations in pp collisions with CMS / Ferraioli, Charles (Maryland U.) /CMS Collaboration According to NRQCD, quarkonium production starts with the (short-distance) production of a pre-resonant quark-antiquark pair, QQbar, that then binds into the observed quarkonium state, changing (octet) or not (singlet) its angular momentum and spin, with probabilities (long-distance matrix elements, LDMEs) conjectured to be constant and universal identical LDMEs should be extracted from, e.g., proton-(anti)proton and e+e- data. The non-perturbative bound state formation described by the octet LDMEs involves the interaction with the surrounding medium in the event, since the initial QQbar must neutralize its colour by absorbing or emitting soft gluons the LDMEs could be different between proton-proton and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Searches for resonant and non-resonant new phenomena in CMS / Clerbaux, Barbara (Brussels U.) /CMS Collaboration Many new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Modelpredict the presence of narrow or broad resonancesdecaying to a pair of quarks/gluons, charged/neutralleptons, photons and their combinations, or a multi-jet finalstate. Non-resonant excess in tails of mass and transversemomentum distributions is another strong indication of newphysics. [...] CMS-CR-2015-175.- Geneva : CERN, 2015 - 8 p. Measurement of jet energy scale and resolutions / Haitz, Dominik Wilhelm (KIT, Karlsruhe, EKP) /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations High pT and jet measurements critically rely on the determination of jet energy scale and resolution from data-based measurements. Too often dismissed as technical calibrations, these are full-blown physics analyses that deal with the same issues as other physics measurements, but with arguably higher level of precision.
