Properties of Cosmic Helium Isotopes Measured by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer / Aguilar, M (Madrid, CIEMAT) ; Ali Cavasonza, L (Aachen, Tech. Precision measurements by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) on the International Space Station of $^{3}He$ and $^{4}He$ fluxes are presented. The measurements are based on 100 million $^{4}He$ nuclei in the rigidity range from 2.1 to 21 GV and 18 million He3 from 1.9 to 15 GV collected from May 2011 to November 2017. [...]

The potential use of combined $e^{−}$-$\gamma$ vs $\gamma$-$\gamma$ Perturbed Angular Correlations (PAC) experiments as a possible alternative to study electronic properties of materials and/or samples where Hall effect measurements are difficult to perform due to low-quality ohmic contacts is here demonstrated using Si- and Zn-doped GaN samples as a showcase example. To do so, the lattice site of implanted$^{181}$Hf/$^{181}$Ta and the recombination of Ta ionized and excited electronic states were studied as a function of temperature and sample doping in GaN. The ROOT Mathematical and Statistical libraries have been recently improved both to increase their performance and to facilitate the modelling of parametric functions that can be used for performing maximum likelihood fits to data sets to estimate parameters and their uncertainties.First, we report on the new functionalities introduced in ROOT’s TFormula and TF1 classes to build these models in a convenient way for the users. We show how function objects, represented in ROOT by TF1 classes, can be used as probability density functions and how they can be combined together—via an addition operator—to perform extended likelihood fit of several normalized components.
