An important experimental program on Nuclear Astrophysics is being carried out at the n_TOF since several years, in order to address the still open issues in stellar and primordial nucleosynthesis. Several neutron capture reactions relevant to s-process nucleosynthesis have been measured so far, some of which on important branching point radioisotopes. [...]

A major part of the scientific program of the CERN n_TOF facility involves the study of neutron-induced fission reactions, which is essential for nuclear technology, as well as for the development of the theoretical models of fission. An overview of the fission studies performed and the corresponding detection systems is given, with a short description of the latest highlights..

233U plays the essential role of fissile nucleus in the Th-U fuel cycle. A particularity of 233U is its small neutron capture cross-section which is about one order of magnitude lower than the fission cross-section on average. [...]

Geant4 Simulations for the Analysis of (n, $\gamma $ ) Measurements at n_TOF / Lerendegui-Marco, J (Seville U.) ; Guerrero, C (Seville U.) ; Cortés-Giraldo, M A (Seville U.) ; Quesada, J M (Seville U.)
At the n_TOF facility at CERN, the (n, $\gamma $ ) experiments are usually carriedout with a set of C$_{6}$ D$_{6}$ scintillators, a simple setup characterized by a low neutron sensitivity. The drawback of this simple detection setup is an elaborated analysis procedure, the so called Pulse Height Weighting Technique, that requires a manipulation of the experimental detector response. The Fission Programme at the CERN n_TOF Facility / Tsinganis, A (Natl. Tech. Since 2001, the scientific programme of the CERN n_TOF facility has focused mainly on the study of radiative neutron capture reactions, which are of great interest to nuclear astrophysics and on neutron-induced fission reactions, which are of relevance for nuclear technology, as well as essential for the development of theoretical models of fission. In particular, taking advantage of the high instantaneous neutron flux and high energy resolution of the facility, as well as of high-performance detection and acquisition systems, accurate new measurements on several long-lived major and minor actinides, from 232 Th to 245 Cm, have been performed so far. Fission measurements with PPAC detectors using a coincidence technique / Paradela, C (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Duran, I (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Tarrio, D (Santiago de Compostela U.) ; Audouin, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Tassan-Got, L (Orsay, IPN) ; Stephan, C (Orsay, IPN) /n_TOF
A fission detection setup based on Parallel Plate Avalanche Counters (PPAC) has been constructed and used at the CERN n_TOF facility. The setup takes advantage of the coincidence detection of both fission fragments to discriminate the background reactions produced by high energy neutrons and it allows obtaining neutron-induced fission cross section up to 1 GeV..
