Shear and Thermal Testing of Adhesives for VELO Upgrade / De Capua, Stefano (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Freestone, Julian (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Klaver, Suzanne (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Parkes, Chris (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Rodriguez Perez, Pablo (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Shtipliyski, Antoni (Imperial College (GB)) ; Stelmasiak, Guy James (University of Manchester (GB))
As part of the R&D; process of the LHCb VELO Upgrade, a study has been performed on the thermal and mechanical performance of the adhesives Stycast 2850FT, 3M 9461P, and Araldite 2011. One or more of these adhesives could be used to attach the ASICs and hybrids to the microchannel cooling substrate. [...]

Synergy of BESIII and LHCb physics programmes / Malde, Sneha Sirirshkumar (University of Oxford (GB))
There is potential for BESIII open-charm measurements to have a significant impact on the LHCb physics programme. Despite the general purpose design of the LHCb detector there are certain inputs that can be better determined in other environments or in production mechanisms not accessible at the LHC. [...]

Work Project Report: Benchmark for 100 Gbps Ethernet network analysis / Moutidis, Iraklis
During the Long Shutdown 2 (2018-2019) the LHCb experiment will be upgraded in order to reach extremely high precision on the main observable of the b and c-quarks sectors. In its current state the LHCb experiment has a readout rate of 1.1 MHz within a fixed latency, which causes the collision rate to be limited [...]

The PIDCalib package / Anderlini, Lucio (Universita e INFN, Firenze (IT)) ; Contu, Andrea (CERN) ; Jones, Christopher Rob (University of Cambridge (GB)) ; Malde, Sneha Sirirshkumar (University of Oxford (GB)) ; Muller, Dominik (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Ogilvy, Stephen (Istituto Nazionale Fisica Nucleare Frascati (IT)) ; Otalora Goicochea, Juan Martin (Univ. Federal do Rio de Janeiro (BR)) ; Pearce, Alex (University of Manchester (GB)) ; Polyakov, Ivan (Syracuse University (US)) ; Qian, Wenbin (University of Oxford (GB)) et al.
The PIDCalib package is a tool, widely used within the LHCb Collaboration, which provides access to the calibration samples of electrons, muons, pions, kaons and protons. This note covers both theoretical aspects related to the measurement of the efficiency of particle identification requirements, and more technical issues such as the selection of the calibration samples, the background subtraction procedure, and the storage of the data sets in the new data-processing scheme adopted by the LHCb experiment during the second run of the LHC..

Computing strategy for PID calibration samples for LHCb Run 2 / Anderlini, Lucio (Universita e INFN, Firenze (IT)) ; Benson, Sean (Nikhef National institute for subatomic physics (NL)) ; Lupton, Olli (University of Oxford (GB)) ; Sciascia, Barbara (Istituto Nazionale Fisica Nucleare Frascati (IT)) ; Gligorov, Vladimir (Lab. Phys. Nucl. Hautes Energies (FR))
The samples for the calibration of the Particle Identification (PID) are sets of data collected by LHCb where decay candidates have a kinematic structure which allows unambiguous identification of one the daughters with a selection strategy not relying on its PID-related variables. PID calibration samples are used in a data-driven technique to measure the efficiency of selection requirements on PID variables in many LHCb analyses. [...]
