The$^{16}$ O(n,  ${\alpha }$ )$^{13}$ C reaction, as the inverse reaction of the astrophysically important$^{13}$ C( ${\alpha }$ , n)$^{16}$ O reaction, is proposed to be measured at the neutron time-of-flight (n_TOF) facility of CERN. To this purpose, a Double Frisch Grid Ionization Chamber (DFGIC) containing the oxygen atoms as a component in the counting gas has been developed and a prototype was constructed at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf(HZDR), in Germany. The neutron capture reactions of the$^{244}$ Cm and$^{246}$ Cm isotopes open the path for the formation of heavier Cm isotopes and of heavier elements such as Bk and Cf in a nuclear reactor. In addition, both isotopes belong to the minor actinides with a large contribution to the decay heat and to the neutron emission in irradiated fuels proposed for the transmutation of nuclear waste and fast critical reactors. High purity $^7$Be material was produced at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and implanted at CERN/ISOLDE, demonstrating the feasibility of neutron measurements on samples produced at radioactive beam facilities.
