Advanced monitoring with complex stream processing / MAGNONI, Luca (speaker) (CERN)
Making sense of metrics and logs for service monitoring can be a complicated task. Valuable information is normally scattered across several streams of monitoring data, requiring aggregation, correlation and time-based analysis to promptly detect problems and failures. [...]

Observation of top-quark production in the forward region with LHCb / Coco, Victor (speaker) (CERN)
As differential NNLO theory predictions become available, both single top and top pair production cross-section measurements in the forward region will provide important experimental tests. Top pair production in the forward region can also constrain the gluon density function in the proton at large momentum transfer, which are responsible for large uncertainties in many SM predictions.  Forward top production is observed, in the µ +b final state, with the  3 fb-1 Run I dataset collected by the LHCb detector. The cross-section for the combined t\bar{t} and single-t at \sqrt{s}=7 TeV and \sqrt{s}=8 TeV is derived, for muons from the W boson with pT>25 GeV in the pseudo-rapidity range 2.0<\eta<4.5 and with a b-tagged jet with 50<pT<100 GeV in the pseudo-rapidity range 2.2<\eta<4.2 [...]

Unlock performance secrets of next-gen Intel hardware / Dr. Matveev, Zakhar A. (speaker) (Intel Corp.)
Software must be optimized for both threaded and SIMD vector parallelism to achieve scaled performance on modern machines. The gap (often 2 orders of magnitude) between modernized workloads and unoptimized baselines is increasing with every next hardware generation. SIMD code modernization is not without cost, but exciting new features of OpenMP 4.0 "explicit vectorization" and new Intel® "Vectorization Advisor" software tool make it possible to introduce efficient and portable SIMD parallelism without disrupting ongoing development. In addition to vector parallelism topic, the seminar will cover adjacent "code modernization" areas like new types of memory available in Next Generation Intel® Xeon Phi Product. About the speaker Zakhar is a software architect in Intel SSG group [...]
