Compact fusion reactors / Dr. Lindén, Tomas (speaker) (Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP))
Fusion research is currently to a large extent focused on tokamak (ITER) and inertial confinement (NIF) research. In addition to these large international or national efforts there are private companies performing fusion research using much smaller devices than ITER or NIF. [...]

First determination of Vub using the exclusive decay Lambda_b to p mu nu with the LHCb detector / Owen, Patrick Haworth (speaker) (Imperial College Sci., Tech. & Med. (GB))
The magnitude of the matrix element Vub is one of the eighteen fundamental parameters of the Standard Model (SM). Consistency checks of these parameters is one of the best ways to search for physics beyond the SM [...]

Self-Tuning Under the Microscope: Last Chance to be Wrong About What the LHC Will Discover / Burgess, Clifford (speaker) (High Energy Physics Group - McGill University)
Naturalness arguments have shaped our expectations for what the LHC would see, and seem to be in disarray given the results of the 8 TeV run. Besides not seeing the expected new particles, lack of progress on the cosmological constant problem appears to undermine the whole picture. [...]

CERN looks to the long-term future: might a 100km circular collider follow the LHC around mid-century?
Particle physics is a long-term field of research: the LHC was originally conceived in the 1980s, but did not start running until 25 years later. An accelerator unlike any other, it is now just at the start of a programme that is set to run for another 20 years. While the LHC programme is already well defined for the next two decades, it is now time to look even further ahead, and so CERN is initiating an exploratory study for a future long-term project centred on a next-generation circular collider with a circumference of 80 to 100 kilometres [...]
