High-Temperature Superconductor Coatings for Beam Impedance Reduction in Particle Colliders: Nonlinear Effects / Calatroni, Sergio (CERN) ; Vaglio, Ruggero (CNR-SPIN, Naples ; INFN, Naples)
Coating of surfaces facing particle beams with hightemperature superconductors (HTS) for reducing the beam coupling impedance is being considered for the next generation of hadron colliders, such as the FCC-hh at CERN, where HTS would be exposed to the high-frequency wakefields generated by the particle bunches and to the strong field of the steering magnets. In this frame, we present a simple model for the calculation of the microwave response of HTS exposed to a strong external magnetic field, which takes into account the nonlinearity of the pinning potential of the vortex lattice. First demonstration of the use of crab cavities on hadron beams / Calaga, R (CERN) ; Alekou, A (Manchester U.) ; Antoniou, F (CERN) ; Appleby, R B (Manchester U.) ; Arnaudon, L (CERN) ; Artoos, K (CERN) ; Arduini, G (CERN) ; Baglin, V (CERN) ; Barriere, S (CERN) ; Bartosik, H (CERN) et al.
Many future particle colliders require beam crabbing to recover geometric luminosity loss from the nonzero crossing angle at the interaction point (IP). A first demonstration experiment of crabbing with hadron beams was successfully carried out with high energy protons. [...]

Injectors and in particular the positron production systems are a crucial element in linear and circular colliders. The proposed FCC-ee injector linac accelerates both electrons and positrons up to 6 GeV in order to be injected into the Pre-Booster Ring (PBR) with a high intensity of 3.5 nC per bunch for the Z running mode. The next generation particle accelerators will need to increase by an order of magnitude the center-of-mass energy: a viable solution is a 100 TeV circular collider, temporarily called Future Circular Collider (FCC). To achieve this goal, a new generation of double aperture superconducting magnets, capable of generating a high quality, stable 16 T magnetic field in a 50 mm bore is being developed. [...]

The Falcon Dipole (Future Accelerator post-LHC Cos-theta Optimized $\rm {Nb_3Sn}$ Dipole) is a single aperture $\rm {Nb_3Sn}$cos-theta dipole short model in the framework of the Future Circular Collider (FCC) project. The Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), in collaboration with CERN, is in charge of designing and constructing the magnet, which is a crucial step towards the construction of High Field $\rm {Nb_3Sn}$magnets suitable for a post LHC collider.
