Collider physics at the intensity and energy frontier – the HL-LHC and beyond / Meloni, F (DESY) /ATLAS Collaboration ; CMS Collaboration The LHC results have set the stage for the discussion of future high-energy physics facilities. The Higgs boson discovery, with the need of precise measurements of its properties, and the current absence of experimental evidence for new physics open a discussion on the best ways to move forward. Design of High-Precision lifting system for the HL-LHC Heavy Components in the interaction region / Micolon, Frederic ; Sosin, Mateusz (CERN) Given the high radiation level and the tight alignment tolerances, the HL-LHC interaction region components are designed to be realigned remotely using motorized supporting jacks, as human interventions in these zones must be limited to the strict minimum. A position adjustment system will allow a vertical and horizontal displacement of each jack support by at least +/- 2.5 mm with a resolution of less than 10 μm [...] CERN-ACC-2021-0006.- Geneva : CERN, 2021 - 4 p. A methodology for the analysis of the three-dimensional mechanical behavior of a Nb$_3$Sn superconducting accelerator magnet during a quench / Ferradas Troitino, J (CERN ; Geneva U.) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Bianchi, L (CERN) ; Castaldo, B (CERN) ; Ferracin, P (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Guinchard, M (CERN) ; Izquierdo, S (CERN) ; Lorenzo, J V (Barcelona Supercomputing Ctr.) ; Mangiarotti, F (CERN) ; Perez, J C (CERN) et al. The fast thermal and electromagnetic transients that occur in a superconducting magnet in case of a quench have the potential of generating large mechanical stresses both in the superconducting coils and in the magnet structure. While the investigation of such quench loads should generally be conducted to ensure a safe operation of the system, its importance is greatly enlarged in the case of high-field magnets based on strain sensitive superconductors. The i-pipe system is a peculiar structural health monitoring system, based on Fiber Bragg Grating technology, installed on the central beam pipe of the compact Muon solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN. In this contribution, i-pipe temperature sensors, originally conceived as thermal compensator for the strain sensors, are employed to monitor central beam pipe thermal behavior in correlation with the parameters of the particle beam travelling inside, in order to directly measure possible Beam RF induced heating effect. This analysis is based on analytical and numerical calculations where the main observables are the dynamic aperture (correlated to the beam lifetime) and the frequency map analysis.
