Determination of the first ionization energy of polonium by resonance ionization spectroscopy – Part II: Measurement of odd-parity Rydberg states at CERN–ISOLDE / Fink, D A (CERN) ; Blaum, K ; Fedosseev, V N (CERN) ; Marsh, B A ; Rossel, R E (CERN) ; Rothe, S (CERN)
Polonium (Po) is one of the rarest elements in Earth's crust. None of its isotopes are stable and sufficient amounts for systematic experimental studies of its most fundamental properties are only available by artificial production. [...]

Potassium self-diffusion in a K-rich single-crystal alkali feldspar / Hergemöller, Fabian ; Wegner, Matthias ; Deicher, Manfred ; Wolf, Herbert ; Brenner, Florian ; Hutter, Herbert ; Abart, Rainer ; Stolwijk, Nicolaas A.
The paper reports potassium diffusion measurements performed on gem-quality single-crystal alkali feldspar in the temperature range from 1169 to 1021 K. Natural sanidine from Volkesfeld, Germany was implanted with {}^{43}K at the ISOLDE/CERN radioactive ion-beam facility normal to the (001) crystallographic plane [...]

The masses of the neutron-rich copper isotopes Cu75–79 are determined using the precision mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. The trend from the new data differs significantly from that of previous results, offering a first accurate view of the mass surface adjacent to the Z=28, N=50 nuclide Ni78 and supporting a doubly magic character. Neodymium-140 DOTA-LM3: Evaluation of an In Vivo Generator for PET with a Non-Internalizing Vector / IS528 Collaboration
140Nd (t1/2 = 3.4 days), owing to its short-lived positron emitting daughter 140Pr (t1/2 = 3.4 min), has promise as an in vivo generator for positron emission tomography (PET). However, the electron capture decay of 140Nd is chemically disruptive to macrocycle-based radiolabeling, meaning that an in vivo redistribution of the daughter 140Pr is expected before positron emission. [...]

Study of the long-lived excited state in the neutron deficient nuclides $^{195,197,199}$Po by precision mass measurement / ISOLTRAP Collaboration
Direct mass measurements of the low-spin $3/2^{(-)}$ and high-spin $13/2^{(+)}$ states in the neutron-deficient isotopes $^{195}$Po, $^{197}$Po, and high-spin $13/2^{(+)}$ state in $^{199}$Po were performed with the Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP at ISOLDE-CERN. These measurements allow the determination of the excitation energy of the isomeric state arising from the $\nu$i$_{13/2}$ orbital in $^{195,197}$Po. [...]

Fast-timing spectroscopy at ISOLDE / Fraile, L M (Madrid U.)
The advanced time-delayed $\beta \gamma \gamma $(t) method has been used at ISOLDE since the relocation of the facility from the synchrocyclotron to the CERN proton synchrotron booster, a quarter of a century ago. The method was designed for precision measurements with low-intensity beams, achieving good efficiency and excellent time resolution with a compact setup. [...]

Here we present the experimental activities carried out at ISOLDE with the total absorption spectrometer Lucrecia, a large 4π scintillator detector designed to absorb a full gamma cascade following beta decay. This spectrometer is designed to measure β-feeding to excited states without the systematic error called Pandemonium. [...]

Extending and refining the nuclear mass surface with ISOLTRAP / Lunney, D (CSNSM, Orsay) /ISOLTRAP
The Penning-trap mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP has received ISOLDE beams for the past 30 years! Following the move of ISOLDE to the proton-synchrotron booster site, ISOLTRAP has pioneered almost all of the techniques now associated with on-line ion trapping and manipulation for precision measurements of atomic masses. After an introduction on physics motivation, a brief history and description of the ISOLTRAP spectrometer is given, followed by an overview of the numerous developments and scientific results achieved since the previous ISOLDE Laboratory Portrait..
