Firmware oriented trigger algorithm for CMS Drift Tubes in HL-LHC / Goy Lopez, Silvia (Madrid, CIEMAT) A full replacement of the muon trigger system in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector is envisaged for operating at the maximum instantaneous luminosities expected in HL-LHC (High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider) of about $5-7.5\times10^{34}$~cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$. Under this scenario, the new on detector electronics that is being designed for the DT (Drift Tubes) detector will forward all the chamber information at its maximum time resolution. Level-1 track finding with an all-FPGA system at CMS for the HL-LHC / James, Thomas Owen (CERN) /CMS Collaboration The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is designed to study a wide range of high energy physics phenomena. It employs a large all-silicon tracker within a 3.8\,T magnetic solenoid, which allows precise measurements of transverse momentum ($p_\mathrm{T}$) and vertex position. Emittance scans for CMS luminosity calibration in Run 2 / Karacheban, Olena (CERN) /CMS Collaboration The absolute luminosity calibration for LHC experiments is derived from dedicated beam separation scans, known as van der Meer (vdM) scans. However, vdM scans are performed with special beam optics, wide beams, and fewer, well-separated bunches to reduce potential systematic effects, and only once per year per collision mode. $\bf{\Lambda_{c}^{+}}$ production in pp and PbPb collisions at 5.02~TeV with the CMS detector / Xiao, Rui (Purdue U.) /CMS Collaboration Due to their large masses, the interactions of heavy quarks with the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) may be different from those of light quarks. The lightest charm baryon is the $\Lambda_{c}^{+}$, composed of a charm quark and two light quarks. [...] CMS-CR-2019-152.- Geneva : CERN, 2019 - 5 p. Calibration and performance of the CMS pixel detector in LHC Run 2 / Vami, Tamas Almos (Wigner RCP, Budapest) The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of two general-purpose detectors that reconstruct the products of high energy particle interactions at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Interaction networks for the identification of boosted $H\to b\overline{b}$ decays / Moreno, Eric A. (Caltech) ; Nguyen, Thong Q. (UC, San Diego ; Fermilab) ; Pierini, Maurizio (CERN) We develop a jet identification algorithm based on an interaction network, designed to identify high-momentum Higgs bosons decaying to bottom quark-antiquark pairs, distinguish them from ordinary jets originating from the hadronization of quarks and gluons. Status of searches in the long-lived particle and dark sectors, including full run-2 and HL-LHC prospects / Alimena, Juliette (Ohio State U.) /ATLAS, CMS and LHCB Collaborations Particles beyond the standard model can generically have lifetimes that are long compared to SM particles at the weak scale. When produced at the LHC at CERN, these long-lived particles (LLPs) can decay far from the primary proton-proton interaction, or even completely pass through the detector before decaying. Study of the effects of radiation on the CMS Drift Tubes Muon Detector for the HL-LHC / Gonzalez Caballero, Isidro (Oviedo U.) The CMS drift tubes (DT) muon detector, built for standing up the LHC expected integrated and instantaneous luminosities, will be used also in the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) at a 5 times larger instantaneous luminosity and, consequently, much higher levels of radiation, reaching about 10 times the LHC integrated luminosity. Initial irradiation tests of a spare DT chamber at the CERN gamma irradiation facility (GIF++), at large (~O(100)) acceleration factor, showed ageing effects resulting in a degradation of the DT cell performance.
