Development of a Thermal Response Model for Wire Grid Profile Monitors and Benchmarking to CERN LINAC4 Experiments / Navarro Fernandez, Araceli (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Sapinski, Mariusz (TERA, Novara)
The operation of wire grids as beam profile monitors, both in terms of measurement accuracy and wire integrity, can be heavily affected by the thermal response of the wires to the energy deposited by the charged particles. A comprehensive model to describe such interaction has been implemented including beam induced heating, all relevant cooling processes and the various phenomena contributing to the wire signal such as secondary emission and H⁻ electron scattering. Extended anomaly detection and breakdown prediction in LINAC 4’s RF power source output / Donon, Yann (Samara U.) ; Kupriyanov, Alexander (Samara U.) ; Kirsh, Dmitriy (Samara U.) ; Meglio, Alberto Di (CERN) ; Paringer, Rustam (Samara U.) ; Rytsarev, Igor (Samara U.) ; Serafimovich, Pavel (Unlisted, RU) ; Syomic, Sergey (Samara U.)
Linear accelerators are complex machines that can face significant periods of downtime due to anomalies and the subsequent failure of one or more components. The need for reliable linear accelerator operations (LINAC) is critical to the spread of this method in the medical environment. [...]

A pulsed high-voltage decelerator system to deliver low-energy antiprotons / Husson, A (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Kim, B H (Seoul Natl. U., Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Welker, A (CERN) ; Charlton, M (Swansea U.) ; Choi, J J (Seoul Natl. U., Dept. Phys. Astron.) ; Chung, M (UNIST, Ulsan) ; Cladé, P (Paris, Lab. The GBAR (Gravitational Behavior of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN requires efficient deceleration of 100 keV antiprotons provided by the new ELENA synchrotron ring to synthesize antihydrogen. This is accomplished using electrostatic deceleration optics and a drift tube that is designed to switch from -99 kV to ground when the antiproton bunch is inside – essentially a charged particle “elevator” – producing a 1 keV pulse.
