Particle production and femtoscopy in $\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}} =$ 5.02 TeV $p$-Pb collisions with ATLAS / Clark, Michael (Nevis Laboratory, Columbia University) /ATLAS Collaboration Mean charged particle multiplicity, per-event charged particle spectra and nuclear modification factors are measured with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in $p$+Pb interactions at sqrt(s_NN)=5.02 TeV. Results are presented as a function of transverse momentum, rapidity, and in different intervals of collision centrality, which is characterized in $p$+Pb collisions by the total transverse energy measured over the pseudorapidity interval $-3.2<\eta<-4.9$ in the direction of the lead beam. Upgrade of ATLAS-ALFA for Run2 / Jakobsen, Sune (European Laboratory for Particle Physics, CERN) /ATLAS Collaboration Early experience with the operation of the ALFA detectors in the LHC environment has shown significant beam-induced heating. Comprehensive studies on the effects of heating with a spare detector module have furthermore revealed that heating effects could be disastrous in the case of the larger beam intensities foreseen for higher luminosity. Searches for New Physics with the ATLAS Detector using Jets / Krizka, Karol (University of Chicago, Enrico Fermi Institute) /ATLAS Collaboration The Dark Matter (DM) nature remains one of the great puzzles of particle physics; while we know that about 27% of the universe is in the form of DM, little is known about its properties. If produced at the LHC, it should couple to the standard model though some mediator. Search for di-Higgs final states and rare or exotic decays of the Higgs boson by the ATLAS collaboration / Kaplan, Benjamin (Department of Physics, New York University) /ATLAS Collaboration I will review recently published results from the ATLAS Collaboration, focusing on di-Higgs final states and rare or exotic decays of the Higgs boson. Results will be based on either LHC Run 1 data or Run 2 data collected in 2015. Upgrade of Tile Calorimeter of the ATLAS detector for the High Luminosity LHC. / Valdes Santurio, Eduardo (Stockholm University) ; ATLAS Collaboration (Stockholm University) /ATLAS Collaboration The Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) is the hadronic calorimeter of ATLAS covering the central region of the ATLAS experiment. TileCal is a sampling calorimeter with steel as absorber and scintillators as active medium. [...] ATL-TILECAL-SLIDE-2016-263.- Geneva : CERN, 2016 - 21 p. Heavy flavor production and spectroscopy at ATLAS / Abbott, Braden Keim (University of Oklahoma (US)) /ATLAS Collaboration ATLAS has a wide programme to study the production properties of conventional and exotic quarkonium, beauty, and charm bound states. This presentation will cover the latest results on J/psi, psi2s and Upsilon production at 7, 8, and 13 TeV, and D meson production with Run-1 data. ATLAS Tile calorimeter calibration and monitoring systems / Chomont, Arthur Rene (Laboratoire de Physique Corpusculaire (LPC), Clermont Universite, Universite Blaise Pascal, CNRS/IN2P3, Clermont-Ferrand, France) /ATLAS Collaboration The ATLAS Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) is the central section of the hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment and provides important information for reconstruction of hadrons, jets, hadronic decays of tau leptons and missing transverse energy. This sampling calorimeter uses steel plates as absorber and scintillating tiles as active medium. Searches for BSM physics in ATLAS / ATLAS Collaboration (Section de Physique, Universite de Geneve) ; March, Luis (Section de Physique, Universite de Geneve) /ATLAS Collaboration The Standard Model (SM) doesn't provide all answers to what is observed in nature. Some open questions remain, such as gravity, Dark Matter/Energy and Hierarchy problem, which are explain by the SM.
