Sound of mind and fleet of foot!

A fine victory for the CERN team, which took first place in the 2007 Course de l’Escalade.

Members of the CERN team celebrating their victory in the Course de l’Escalade

In the corporate teams championship of the 2007 Course de l’Escalade running race, Team CERN (including members of the Running Club) were not content with second or third position, as in previous years, but were the outright winners, finishing ahead of Team Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève in an event which attracted 67 teams in all. This was a great achievement for CERN’s runners, some competing in the traditional race around Geneva’s old-town, and others in the 18-km Course du Duc road race, which is held every five years at the same time as the Course de l’Escalade, starting in the town of Reignier in Haute-Savoie and finishing along the Promenade des Bastions in Geneva’s old town. The Course du Duc brought the very best out of CERN’s fastest man, Stephen March, who finished 33rd out of 3633 men, and fastest woman Helenka Przysiezniak Frey, who finished 16th out of 1099 women."
