Strong Coupling Constant from the Photon Structure Function / Simon Albino (Institut fuer Theoretische Physik, Universität Hamburg), (speaker)
We extract the value of the strong coupling constant alphas from a single-parameter pointlike fit to the photon structure function F2(gamma) at large x and Q2 and from a first five-parameter full (pointlike and hadronic) fit to the complete F2(gamma) data set taken at PETRA, TRISTAN, and LEP. In next-to-leading order and the MSbar renormalization and factorization schemes, we obtain alphas (mZ) = 0.1183 ± 0.0050 (exp.) +0.0029/-0.0028 (theor.) [pointlike] and alphas (mZ) = 0.1198 ± 0.0028 (exp.) +0.0034/-0.0046 (theor.) [pointlike and hadronic]. [...]

Low Energy Experiments that Measure Fundamental Constants and Test Basic Symmetries (4/4) / G. GABRIELSE (Professor of Physics and Chair of the Harvard Physics Department, Spokesperson for the, (speaker)
Cold Antihydrogen: Are We There? Cold antihydrogen offers the possibility to precisely compare the structure of antihydrogen and hydrogen atoms, using the well developed tools of laser spectroscopy with antihydrogen atoms cold enough to be trapped in the minimum of a magnetic field gradient. Progress made at CERN's new Antiproton Decelerator will be discussed, along with goals and aspirations, such as measuring the anti-Rydberg constant. [...]

Gravitational waves as a probe of early universe phase transitions / Weir, David (speaker) (University of Helsinki)
Abstract:  Future space-based gravitational wave detectors like LISA may be able to detect signals from a phase transition at the electroweak scale, a few picoseconds after the Big Bang. By detecting a stochastic gravitational wave background from the early universe, we might even be able to find out some details of the phase transition such as the nucleation rate and transition temperature [...]

REMOTE - Sociology Lecture 2: Gender division of labor in the household / Soboleva, Natalia (speaker) (HSE University )
Abstract Lecture 2: Although female labor force participation rates have increased significantly in the recent decades, women still do most household chores across the globe. The gender inequality in the household is harder to regulate with the help of social policies than inequality in labor market sphere [...]

REMOTE - Sociology Lecture 1: Gender inequality in the labor market / Soboleva, Natalia (speaker) (HSE University)
Abstract Lecture 1: In European countries women do not have lower education as compared to men and even achieve better results. Nevertheless, women are often less advantaged in making their career, less often occupy top positions and underrepresented in male occupations [...]
