Three-loop $b\to s\gamma$ vertex with current-current operators
/ Fael, Matteo (CERN) ; Lange, Fabian (KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP ; KIT, Karlsruhe, IAP) ; Schönwald, Kay (Zurich U.) ; Steinhauser, Matthias (KIT, Karlsruhe, TTP)
We compute three-loop vertex corrections to $b\to s\gamma$ induced by current-current operators. The results are presented as expansions in $m_c/m_b$ with numerical coefficients which allow to cover all relevant values for the heavy quark masses in different renormalization schemes. [...]

QED effects in inclusive semi-leptonic $B$ decays
/ Bigi, Dante (CERN ; Turin U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Bordone, Marzia (CERN) ; Gambino, Paolo (Turin U. ; Munich, Max Planck Inst. ; Munich, Tech. U.) ; Haisch, Ulrich (Munich, Max Planck Inst.) ; Piccione, Andrea (Turin U.)
We analyse in detail the QED corrections to the total decay width and the moments of the electron energy spectrum of the inclusive semi-leptonic $B \to X_c e \nu$ decay. Our calculation includes short-distance electroweak corrections, the complete ${\cal O}(\alpha)$ partonic terms and leading-logarithmic QED effects up to ${\cal O}(\Lambda^3_{\rm QCD}/m_b^3)$. [...]

Hide and seek: how PDFs can conceal New Physics
/ Hammou, Elie (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Kassabov, Zahari (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Madigan, Maeve (Heidelberg U.) ; Mangano, Michelangelo L. (CERN) ; Mantani, Luca (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Moore, James (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Alvarado, Manuel Morales (Cambridge U., DAMTP) ; Ubiali, Maria (Cambridge U., DAMTP)
The interpretation of LHC data, and the assessment of possible hints of new physics, require the precise knowledge of the proton structure in terms of parton distribution functions (PDFs). We present a systematic methodology designed to determine whether and how global PDF fits might inadvertently 'fit away' signs of new physics in the high-energy tails of the distributions. [...]

Metastable cosmic strings
/ Buchmuller, Wilfried (DESY) ; Domcke, Valerie (CERN) ; Schmitz, Kai (Munster U.)
Many symmetry breaking patterns in grand unified theories (GUTs) give rise to cosmic strings that eventually decay when pairs of GUT monopoles spontaneously nucleate along the string cores. These strings are known as metastable cosmic strings and have intriguing implications for particle physics and cosmology. [...]
