The AWAKE experiment reached all planned milestones during Run 1 (2016-18), notably the demonstration of strong plasma wakes generated by proton beams and the acceleration of externally injected electrons to multi-GeV energy levels in the proton driven plasma wakefields. During Run~2 (2021 - 2024) AWAKE aims to demonstrate the scalability and the acceleration of electrons to high energies while maintaining the beam quality [...]

The AWAKE experiment had a very successful Run 1 (2016-8), demonstrating proton-driven plasma wakefield acceleration for the first time, through the observation of the modulation of a long proton bunch into micro-bunches and the acceleration of electrons up to 2 GeV in 10 m of plasma. The aims of AWAKE Run 2 (2021-4) are to have high-charge bunches of electrons accelerated to high energy, about 10 GeV, maintaining beam quality through the plasma and showing that the process is scalable. Future Circular Collider (FCC) Conceptual Design Report (CDR), Vol.1: Physics Opportunities / Mangano, Michelangelo (CERN) ; Azzi, Patrizia (Universita e INFN, Padova (IT)) ; Benedikt, Michael (CERN) ; Blondel, Alain (Universite de Geneve (CH)) ; Britzger, Daniel Andreas (Max-Planck-Institut fur Physik (DE)) ; Dainese, Andrea (Universita e INFN, Padova (IT)) ; Dam, Mogens (University of Copenhagen (DK)) ; de Blas, Jorge (INFN) ; Enterria, David (CERN) ; Fischer, Oliver (Karlsuhe Institute of Technology) et al.
This volume of the Conceptual Design Report is dedicated to an overview of the FCC physics potential. It focuses on the most significant targets of the potential FCC research programme but, for the sake of space, not covering a large body of science that will nevertheless be accessible (and which is documented in various other reports, listed in the Appendix) [...]

Summary Report of Physics Beyond Colliers at CERN / Jaeckel, Joerg (CERN) ; Lamont, Mike (CERN) ; Vallee, Claude (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (FR))
Physics Beyond Colliders is an exploratory study aimed at exploiting the full scientific potential of CERN's accelerator complex and its scientific infrastructure in the next two decades through projects complementary to the LHC, HL-LHC and other possible future colliders. These projects should target fundamental physics questions that are similar in spirit to those addressed by high-energy colliders, but that require different types of beams and experiments [...]

This document summarises the main conclusions of the Conventional Beams Working group, which has analysed the beam related and technical requirements and requests in the proposals to the Physics Beyond Colliders study for the North Area at the CERN SPS. We present results from studies on feasibility, requirements, compatibility between proposals and, where possible, the order of magnitude of the costs. [...]
