Status of SixTrack with collimation / Bruce, R. (CERN) ; Fiascaris, M. (CERN) ; Fitterer, M. (Fermilab) ; Morales, H. Garcia (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Hermes, P.D. (CERN) ; Kwee-Hinzmann, R. (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Mereghetti, A. (CERN) ; Mirarchi, D. (CERN) ; Molson, J. (Orsay, LAL) ; Quaranta, E. (CERN) et al. In this paper, we review the functionality and status of the collimation versionof SixTrack. It is a simulation tool that contains both an accurate magnetictracking of an ensemble of particles, as well as a model for particle-matterinteraction inside collimators, in order to model the efficiency of a proton col-limation system [...] 2018 - 10 p. Search for supersymmetry in final states with photons and missing transverse momentum in pp collisions at 13 TeV using the CMS detector / Major, Peter (Eotvos U.) /CMS Supersymmetry (SUSY) is a theoretically favoured extension of the standard model (SM) since it provides solutions to several open questions. Many models employing gauge mediation (GMSB or GGM) predict the production of events with photons and significant missing transverse momentum. FCNC and EFT interpretations in CMS / Francois, Brieuc (Hanyang U.) /CMS Top quark production can probe physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) in different ways. Some processes, and especially certain angular correlations, are sensitive to the existence of anomalous top quark couplings. Higgs boson production in association with a ttbar pair at the ATLAS experiment / Dumitriu, Ana Elena (Bucharest U.) /ATLAS The measurement of Higgs boson production in association with a $t\bar{t}$ pair is essential to understand the top-quark couplings to the Higgs boson. This talks presents the analyses using Higgs boson decays to $b\bar{b}$ pairs, to two Z bosons, to other multi-lepton final states, and to a pair of photons, using pp collision data collected at 13 TeV.. Crystal for slow extraction loss-reduction of the SPS electrostatic septum / Esposito, Luigi Salvatore (CERN) ; Addesa, Francesca (INFN, Rome) ; Afonin, Alexander (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Bestman, Patrick (CERN) ; Borg, Johan (Imperial Coll., London) ; Butcher, Mark (CERN) ; Calviani, Marco (CERN) ; Chesnokov, Yuri (Serpukhov, IHEP) ; Denisov, Alexander (St. Petersburg, INP) ; Di Castro, Mario (CERN) et al. The use of a bent crystal was investigated in order to reduce the losses at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) electrostatic septum (ZS) during the slow extraction of 400 GeV/c protons toward the North Area. The crystal, installed a few meters upstream of the ZS, bends protons that would otherwise impinge on the ZS wires. Update on beam transfer line design for the SPS Beam Dump Facility / Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Bauche, Jeremie ; Dougherty, Liam (CERN) ; Fraser, Matthew ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Heßler, Christoph (CERN) ; Kain, Verena ; Kurdej, Jakub (CERN) ; Uythoven, Jan (CERN) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) The SPS Beam Dump Facility (BDF) being studied as part of the Physics Beyond Colliders (PBC) CERN project has recently reached an important milestone with the completion of the comprehensive feasibility study. The BDF is a proposed fixed target facility to be installed in the SPS North Area, to accommodate experiments such as SHiP (Search for Hidden Particles), which is most notably aiming at studying hidden sector particles. Emittance dilution from the CERN Proton Synchrotron Booster’s extraction kickers / Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Antoniou, Fanouria (CERN) ; Di Giovanni, Gian Piero (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Forte, Vincenzo (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) Understanding the different sources of emittance dilution along the LHC injector chain is an important part of providing the high brightness proton beams demanded by the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project. In this context, the first beam-based measurements of the magnetic waveforms of the Proton Synchrotron Booster’s (PSB) extraction kickers were carried out and used to quantify the transverse emittance blow-up during extraction and transfer to the Proton Synchrotron (PS). Matching studies between CERN PSB and PS through multi-turn beam profile acquisitions / Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Dutheil, Yann (CERN) ; Forte, Vincenzo (CERN) ; Guerrero, Ana (CERN) ; Huschauer, Alexander (CERN) ; Oeftiger, Adrian (CERN) ; Ogur, Salim (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Senes, Eugenio (CERN) ; Tecker, Frank (CERN) In the framework of the LHC Injectors Upgrade (LIU) project, the investigation and quantification of the optics mismatch between the CERN Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB) and PS is a crucial step in understanding the source of horizontal emittance growth between the two machines. Extensive studies were carried out to estimate the mismatch from single-pass measurements in the transfer line and to rematch the transfer line to reduce the dispersive mismatch at PS injection while keeping the betatron matching unaltered. The extraction region provides the physics experiments with a quasi-DC flux of high-energy protons over a few seconds, which corresponds to tens of thousands of turns. Frequency modulated capture of cooled coasting ion beams / Albright, Simon (CERN) ; Angoletta, Maria Elena (CERN) Transverse space charge effects in the Low Energy Ion Ring (LEIR) at CERN have been shown to be a major source of particle losses, which can be mitigated with a larger RMS longitudinal emittance. However, due to electron cooling during the injection plateau, the longitudinal density is very high prior to RF capture.
