MOSFET Selection for a 18ka modular power converter for HL-LHC inner triplet / Wassinger, Nicolas ; Maestri, Sebastian (National Scientific and Technical Research Council (AR)) ; Garcia Retegui, Rogelio (ICYTE, COCINET-UNMDP, Mar del Plata, Argentina) ; Funes, Miguel (ICYTE, COCINET-UNMDP, Mar del Plata, Argentina) ; Antoszczuk, Pablo Daniel (CERN) ; Pittet, Serge (CERN)
The upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN towards the High Luminosity-LHC (HL-LHC) presents different challenges, among them, the upgrade of the power converters associated to the inner triplet magnets to reach the required rated current of 18kA. In order to reach this current and to accomplish the stringent requirements associated to this kind of application, even under a fault scenario, redundancy and modularity are foreseen in the converter design. Application of the Universal Quench Detection System to the Protection of the High-Luminosity LHC Magnets at CERN / Steckert, Jens (CERN) ; Denz, Reiner (CERN) ; Mundra, Surbhi (CERN) ; Podzorny, Tomasz (CERN) ; Spasic, Jelena (CERN) ; Vancea, Dragos-Gabriel (CERN)
The Universal Quench Detection System (UQDS) has been primarily developed to detect quenches in various superconducting magnets of LHC’s High Luminosity upgrade (HL-LHC). The functionality of the system, which comprises insulated high-resolution digitizing front-end channels and a central processing element, is mainly defined by the configuration of the central FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array).
