Extraction of CKM matrix elements in single top quark $t$-channel events in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV /CMS Collaboration
This note presents a model-independent extraction of the modulus of the Cabibbo Kobayashi Maskawa matrix elements $\mathrm{V_{\mathrm{tb}}}$, $\mathrm{V_{\mathrm{td}}}$, and $\mathrm{V_{\mathrm{ts}}}$ using an event sample enriched in single top quark $t$-channel events. The analysis uses proton-proton collisions data from the LHC collected during 2016 by the CMS experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb$^{\mathrm{-1}}$. Nuclear modification factor of isolated photons in PbPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}} = 5.02~\mathrm{TeV}$ /CMS Collaboration
The transverse energy ($E^{\gamma}_\text{T}$) spectra and the nuclear modification factors ($R_{\mathrm{AA}}$) of isolated photons are analyzed using proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (PbPb) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}} = 5.02~\mathrm{TeV}$. Nuclear modification of $\Upsilon$ states in pPb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02~\mathrm{TeV}$ /CMS Collaboration
Production cross sections of $\Upsilon(\mathrm{1S})$, $\Upsilon(\mathrm{2S})$, and $\Upsilon(\mathrm{3S})$ states decaying into $\mu^{+}\mu^{-}$ in proton-lead (pPb) collisions are reported using data collected by the CMS experiment at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=5.02~\mathrm{TeV}$. Search for strong electromagnetic fields in PbPb collisions at 5.02 TeV via azimuthal anisotropy of $\mathrm{D^0}$ and $\mathrm{\overline{D}^0}$ mesons /CMS Collaboration
Motivated by the search for strong electromagnetic fields created in PbPb collisions, the first measurement of the $v_2$ difference ($\Delta v_2$) between $\mathrm{D^0}$ and $\mathrm{\overline{D}^0}$ is presented as a function of rapidity. The result for the rapidity-averaged $v_2$ difference is found to be $\left\langle\Delta v_2 \right\rangle = 0.001 \pm 0.001 \mathrm{(stat)} \pm 0.003 \mathrm{(syst)}$, consistent with zero within experimental uncertainties. Studies of charm and beauty long-range correlations in pp and pPb collisions /CMS Collaboration
Studies of collective long-range (large $\eta$ gap) correlations involving open charm and beauty hadrons in pp and pPb collisions are presented, using data samples collected by the CMS experiment with center-of-mass energies of 13 and 8.16 TeV, respectively. Evidence for top quark production in nucleus-nucleus collisions /CMS Collaboration
Evidence for the production of top quarks in heavy ion collisions is reported in a data sample of lead-lead collisions recorded in 2018 by the CMS experiment at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{\smash[b]{s_{_{\mathrm{NN}}}}} = 5.02$ TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $1.7\pm0.1\,\text{nb}^{-1}$.
