Environmental Background Hit Rate on GE1/1 in the 2018 Slice Test /CMS Collaboration
The CMS Collaboration has decided to add new detectors using GEM technology at Stations 0, 1 and 2 of the endcap region of the CMS muon system for the upcoming HL-LHC runs. These GEM detectors will be operated in a harsh radiation environment. [...]

DT Slice Test demonstrator results /CMS Collaboration
During LS2, 4 DT Chambers (MB1 to MB4 Sector 12 Wheel +2) have been instrumented with Phase-2 on-board DT electronics (OBDT) to setup a demonstrator of the upgraded system called DT Slice Test. The OBDT streams TDC hits from the detector directly to the back-end electronics in the service cavern. [...]

A Study of the ttW Background Modelling for ttH Analyses /ATLAS and CMS Collaborations
In this document we compare Monte Carlo generator distributions of the ttW processes at particle level, using simulations produced by ATLAS and CMS. The aim is to compare the modelling and associated theory uncertainties of this important background for ttH measurements targeting final states where the Higgs boson decays to electrons, muons or hadronically decaying tau leptons, in preparation for a full Run-2 ATLAS+CMS combination. Validation of Physics Models of Geant4 using data from CMS Experiment /CMS Collaboration
In the simulation of the CMS experiment, a specific Geant4 physics configuration (Physics List), tuned with dedicated test beam experiments, is used. Test beam data provide measurements of energy response of the calorimeter as well as resolution for well identified charged hadrons over a large energy region. [...]

Analytical Method (AM) for DT Trigger Primitive Generation in Phase 2 /CMS Collaboration
A full replacement of the muon trigger system in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector is envisaged for operating at the maximum instantaneous luminosities expected in HL-LHC (High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider) of about 5-7.5x10$^{34}$cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$. Under this scenario, the new on detector electronics that is being designed for the DT (Drift Tubes) detector will forward all the chamber information at its maximum time resolution. A new trigger system based on the highest performing FPGAs is being designed and will be capable of providing precise muon reconstruction and Bunch Crossing identification. An algorithm easily portable to FPGA architecture has been designed to implement the trigger primitive generation from the DT detector. This algorithm has to reconstruct muon segments from single wire DT hits which, for a given BX, come with a spread of 400 ns due to the drift time in the cell. [...]

Track impact parameter resolution for the full pseudo rapidity coverage in the 2017 dataset with the CMS Phase-1 Pixel detector /CMS Collaboration
This note summarizes preliminary results on the measurement of the transverse impact parameter resolution of tracks using legacy data collected in proton-proton collisions in 2017 with the Phase-1 Pixel detector. The measurement is performed in unbiased collision events with respect to the beam-spot position. [...]

Performance of CMS Track- Based Muon Alignment in Run2 /CMS Collaboration
The alignment of the CMS muon detector is critical to maintaining accurate position determination of muon hits, thereby affecting momentum resolution and the sensitivity of physics analyses involving muons in the final state. Muon track data from both the muon system and the inner tracker is used to perform a multidimensional fit on the misalignment degrees of freedom. [...]

The Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) has collected more than 110 fb$^{-1}$ of data over the course of the LHC Run 2. This note illustrates the key features of PPS alignment and optics calibrations developed during this period, the reconstructed proton distributions and performance of the PPS simulation. [...]

Efficiency of the Si-strips sensors used in the Precision Proton Spectrometer: radiation damage /CMS Collaboration
The Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) is a forward-proton spectrometer using near-beam detectors (inside Roman Pots, RPs) located symmetrically on both sides of IP5 at a distance of about 220 m. In the early stage of the project, the tracking RPs were equipped with the Si-strip sensors used in the TOTEM experiment. [...]

Precision Proton Spectrometer timing detector efficiencies and two-arm timing resolution in 2018 data /CMS Collaboration
The Precision Proton Spectrometer (PPS) is a forward-proton spectrometer using near-beam detectors (inside Roman Pots, RPs) located symmetrically on both sides of IP5 at a distance of about 220 m. In addition to the tracking system, timing detectors were installed in 2017 to measure the Time-Of-Flight (TOF) of the protons produced in central exclusive interactions. [...]
