Dynamic Testing and Characterization of Advanced Materials in a New Experiment at CERN HiRadMat Facility / Bertarelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Accettura, Carlotta (CERN ; Milan Polytechnic) ; Berthomé, Emmanuel (CERN) ; Bianchi, Laura (CERN) ; Bolz, Philipp (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Carra, Federico (CERN) ; Fichera, Claudio (CERN) ; Frankl, Matthias (CERN) ; Furness, Thomas (Huddersfield U.) ; Gobbi, Giorgia (CERN) et al.
An innovative and comprehensive experiment (named “Multimat”) was successfully carried out at CERN HiRadMat facility on 18 different materials relevant for Collimators and Beam Intercepting Devices. Material samples, tested under high intensity proton pulses of 440 GeV/c, exceeding the energy density expected in HL-LHC, ranged from very light carbon foams to tungsten heavy alloys, including novel composites as graphite/carbides and metal/diamond without and with thin-film coatings. Electron Cloud Build Up for LHC Sawtooth Vacuum Chamber / Guillermo Cantón, Gerardo (CERN ; CINVESTAV, IPN) ; Maury Cuna, Georfrey (Guanajuato U.) ; Ocampo, Edgar (Guanajuato U.) ; Zimmermann, Frank (CERN)
At high proton-beam energies, beam-induced synchrotron radiation is an important source of heating, of beam-related vacuum pressure increase, and of primary photoelectrons, which can give rise to an electron cloud. For the arcs of LHC a sawtooth pattern had been imprinted on the horizontally outward side  of the vacuum chamber in order to locally absorb synchrotron radiation photons without dispersing them all around the chamber. Observation of Fast Losses in the LHC Operation in 2017 / Gorzawski, Arkadiusz (CERN ; Manchester U.) ; Appleby, Robert (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; U. Manchester (main)) ; Fuster-Martínez, Nuria (CERN) ; Garcia Morales, Hector (CERN) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN) ; Xu, Chen (CERN) ; Zamantzas, Christos (CERN)
Four diamond detectors that provide beam loss measurements with time resolution in the nanosecond range were added in the vicinity of the primary collimators of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This is a powerful diagnostic tool that provides the unique chance to measure bunch-by-bunch losses. [...]

Special Collimation System Configuration for the LHC High-Beta Runs / Garcia Morales, Hector (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Burkhardt, Helmut (CERN) ; Deile, Mario (CERN) ; Jakobsen, Sune (CERN) ; Mereghetti, Alessio (CERN) ; Redaelli, Stefano (CERN)
Special LHC high-beta optics is required for the forward physics program of TOTEM and ATLAS-ALFA. In this configuration, the beam is de-squeezed (the \beta-function at the collision point is increased) in order to minimize the divergence for measurements at very small scattering angles. [...]

Challenges and Status of Tuning Simulations for CLIC Traditional Beam Delivery System / Bodenstein, Ryan (JAI, UK) ; Burrows, Philip (JAI, UK) ; Marín, Eduardo (CERN)
The beam delivery system (BDS) for the 3 TeV version of the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) has two main design types. One type is referred to as the local scheme, as it is approximately one kilometer shorter and corrects the chromaticity in both planes. [...]
