Report from LHC MD 3312: Replicating HL-LHC DA

During MD3312 on the 30.10.2018 the non-linear conditions in the insertion regions of the planned HL-LHC were replicated to our best knowledge and within the capabilities of the hardware currently available in the LHC: A flat ATS-optics scheme of beta* = 15cm / 60cm in IP1 and IP5 was applied as well as sextupole, octupole and (normal) dodecapole errors were introduced into the machine via the corrector magnets in the interaction regions. A Metrology-grade Digitizer for Power Converters in the High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider

The High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider project at CERN requires performance improvements in the precision powering of magnets, in particular for the new Nb3Sn based Inner Triplet magnets that provide the final focusing of the hadron beams at the interaction points of the ATLAS and CMS detectors.
